Wait, Are Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Honeymooning In Canada Now?

First it was Africa, then it was Canada—now it looks like Prince harry and Meghan Markle are going to honeymoon in … well, we’re not entirely sure.

Last month we learned that newlyweds Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were set to honeymoon in Namibia soon after exchanging their May 19 vows.

Africa is a favored destination for the royal family—in fact, it was during a visit to the continent that Queen (then Princess) Elizabeth first learned she’d be Britain’s new monarch. But despite early reports and the longstanding familial tradition, a new and more popular rumor began to circulate Meghan and Harry were to honeymoon in Canada.

On Monday, TMZ reported that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were planning a trip to Alberta, Canada (“the world’s most boring place,” as described by Page Six). Not only did the celebrity gossip site provide a country and province, they actually gave the name of their resort: the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge—the 6,000 square foot “Royal Retreat” cabin, more specifically.

The lodge in question is known for its royal and celebrity guests, which include King George VI and Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother (1939) and Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip (2005), and the similarly regal John Travolta.

I mean, it doesn’t look half bad …

Anyway, now that we have our hearts set on Meghan and Harry’s Canadian getaway, The Fairmont is disputing the reports!

Angela Moore, the regional director of public relations for Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, revealed in a statement on Monday that the Duke and Duchess were not currently booked for a stay at the lodge.

Alberta’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, Ricardo Miranda, issued a similar sentiment concerning the rumors, explaining “We have world-renowned tourism in our province, and it attracts people from all over the world, so I’m not surprised.” That being said, security measures would have to be put into place for a visit of such magnitude, and Miranda confirmed that he hadn’t been made aware of any such requests.

So … we’re stumped. Namibia? Canada? The set of Suits (which happened to be filmed in Toronto)? If the royal family wanted to throw us off their track, they’re certainly succeeding.
