Travis Scott did not “forget” Kylie Jenner’s birthday, despite reports. These made-up claims stem from a dinner the couple had last month. Gossip Cop can explain how this same sighting is being used over and over again for fake news stories.

On July 18, Scott and Jenner were photographed out to dinner together at the New York City restaurant Carbone. Following that outing, RadarOnline claimed Jenner and Scott may be “over already” because they supposedly left the establishment after 45 minutes. The site further alleged she later kicked the rapper out of their hotel. None of the allegations could be substantiated, but in contrast, there was ample proof the couple was still together, and happily so.

Days after that, Star, the blog’s sister outlet, used the same supposedly disastrous date night to contend Jenner and Scott were headed for a split. Gossip Cop again pointed out all the evidence since July 18 that proves things are still well between them. Now a week later, Life & Style is trying to sell a narrative based on this dinner, too. It should be noted the tabloid and its sister publication, In Touch, are now owned by AMI, which not only publishes Star and RadarOnline, but also Us Weekly, Globe, OK!, and the National Enquirer.

In this version, the article begins, “Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott cut short their romantic dinner at Carbone in New York City on July 18 — and only Life & Style knows why!” A so-called “source” is quoted as saying, “Kylie asked Travis what he had planned for her birthday, and he had no idea what she was talking about.” With Jenner’s 21st birthday coming up on August 10, the unidentifiable snitch claims she “hit the roof.” The magazine calls it a “birthday bust-up,” with its alleged tipster adding that Scott “apologized profusely and swore that he’d do something extra special to make it up for her.”

Of course, now if Scott goes big for Jenner’s special day, the outlet can pretend he’s trying to make amends. But if this supposed dispute is the reason why the couple allegedly had a dustup at the restaurant, why didn’t RadarOnline or Star know that? And why is Life & Style only making this claim two weeks after the couple stepped out? In the time that’s passed, no reputable publications have corroborated any of the fight storylines. And aside from the stars still being together, there is additional evidence that having a short dinner had nothing to do with a disagreement.

Right in Jenner and Scott’s cover story for GQ, the writer who interviewed them reveals that the performer “hates anything that slows him down. He even hates restaurants; the man despises wasting time in restaurants.” That is an entirely non-scandalous reason why Jenner and Scott would be seen leaving a restaurant after only 45 minutes. And even though this profile came out a full day before their time at Carbone, meaning this information was readily available online, the gossip media still saw fit to come up with sensational explanations for their relatively quick visit, even though there’s no evidence to support them.

This is one dinner that has been twisted by multiple outlets that are all related to one another. In fact, Life & Style posted an online version of its article on Wednesday, and now on Saturday, In Touch is running a virtually identical story on its own website. (See screengrabs of the headlines below.) This is indicative of how certain tabloids work together to spread misinformation. And in this case, the contentions were clearly made-up.
