Susan Sarandon continues to be the badass we know and love her to be. Police have confirmed that she was arrested alongside 575 other women who staged a sit-in protest against Donald Trump‘s immigration policy.

Sarandon was part of the rally which took place inside a Senate office at the Department of Justice in Washington. She walked among the women who held signs denouncing the president’s “zero-tolerance” policy and demanding an end to immigration camps following distressing scenes at the US-Mexico border where over 2300 children were separated from their parents.

According to reports, the protestors shouted “we care” in reference to the controversial H&M jacket worn by Melania Trump last week. There were also chants of “What do we want? Free families!” and “This is what democracy looks like” before the women were arrested and charged with unlawfully demonstrating during the rally. They were subsequently released.

Organisers the Women’s March and the Center for Popular Democracy sported foil blankets like those worn by children separated from their parents at the US-Mexico border.

Sarandon shared a number of tweets throughout the rally.
