Mila Kunis gave a wide-ranging interview on Monday to Dax Shepard on his podcast “Armchair Expert,” and in the midst of discussing her personal life and professional career the actress blasted Perez Hilton for giving rise to trolling on the Internet. She also blamed the blogger for creating what she calls “ugly news.” Additionally, Kunis took aim at the tabloids, which she feels churn out “not plausible news.”
While talking about her life and success at a young age, Kunis told Shepard, “I was happy. Everything was great… until, I would say, the rise of Perez Hilton.” She believes the industry began “crumbling” because of Perez. “He was the first person that created ugly news… that, like, literally just spread filth,” said the film and TV star.
Kunis continued, “It was just mean, and so it allowed people to be mean.” “This whole concept of trolling didn’t exist” before Perez, offered the actress. And while the celebrities magazines came out once a week, she expressed how that type of daily, negative blogging “all of the sudden became once a minute.” That’s not to say she likes the tabloids. “Nowadays, you read magazines and none of it’s… even just fake, it’s just not plausible news,” added Kunis.
This isn’t the first time she’s has gone after the gossip media. Earlier this month, as Gossip Cop reported, Kunis slammed the tabloids for its untrue divorce and pregnancies rumors. In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Kunis mocked how the celebrity magazines report “I’m pregnant about once a year and my husband [Ashton Kutcher] and I are getting a divorce once a year.” And while she generally avoids those publications, except when she sees them in the supermarket on occasion, Kunis noted what’s “upsetting is my parents and my grandparents sometimes get confused.”
Specifically, she pointed to a cover story that falsely maintained, “I had an emergency and was rushed to the hospital.” Kunis explained, “The amount of stress that caused my family, nobody will understand.” To be sure, OK! published two entirely untrue cover stories in 2014 (below) that claimed she had a “Dramatic Delivery” (when she hadn’t even given birth) and another that falsely contended there was “Delivery Room Drama.”
Actually, Gossip Cop debunked a number of the inaccurate reports about the actress that she referred to. For instance, we busted a bogus cover story about Kunis expecting twins in 2015 when she wasn’t even pregnant. And last year, we exposed another phony cover story that untruthfully asserted Kunis and Kutcher were announcing a divorce.
Gossip Cop has reached out to Perez for a response. Listen here to Kunis’s comments about the blogger and tabloids at the 10-minute mark of Shepard’s “Armchair Expert” podcast.
