Kylie Jenner never feared Tyga was going to release âintimate videosâ that they allegedly filmed, despite a made-up report from exactly one year ago today. Gossip Cop said it was untrue then, and a full 365 days later, itâs clear we were right and the claim was completely fabricated. Not only was there no evidence the alleged racy tapes even existed, but Tyga himself debunked the rumor
On July 22, 2017, HollywoodLife published an article with the headline, âKylie Jenner & Tyga: She Fears He Will Release âIntimate Videosâ After Split.â The first sign the tale was seemingly phony was that the often discredited website maintained it had an âexclusive,â which no other reputable outlet had. The blog maintained, âThe former couple definitely filmed âintimate videosâ over the course of their 3-year on/off relationship.â A better usage of the word âdefinitelyâ would be, the aptly nicknamed HollywoodLies definitely makes up stories from time to time.
It appeared the site manufactured its report, based on the lyrics of Tygaâs song, âRun it Back.â The singleâs phrases include, âReaching for my phone. Let me record that [expletive]⊠If the [expletive] leak, donât be mad.â Admittedly, the song also name-checked Jenner, but it was the rapperâs collaborator on the song, Young Thug, who unrelatedly spit, âLike Kylie, Iâm with Tyga. We the perfect match.â
While the site hid behind an unnamed and unidentified âsource,â Gossip Cop will cite what Jenner and Tyga themselves have said on the record. In reality, Jenner never feared Tyga would release âintimate videosâ because there werenât any such tapes nor did she have reason to be afraid he would seek revenge on her. While opening up months after her split from Tyga, Jenner revealed to People, âThere was absolutely not one thing wrong with me and T.â She stressed, âThere was no crazy fight.â She simply felt she was âreally youngâ at the time.
For his part, a couple of days after the bogus report was published, the rapper was asked in an interview about whether he and his ex-girlfriend took racy videos. Tyga himself shot down the speculation. He said while laughing, âNah, nah, nah,â adding, âWho said that? Nah. I ainât got no sex tape.â
Of course, a full 12 months have passed and no âintimate videosâ were ever leaked. As noted above, thatâs because there are none. The whole story was made up by HollywoodLife.
In the intervening year, the outlet didnât get much better with its reporting about the near-billionaire makeup mogul. Just a few weeks ago, for example, Gossip Cop busted the blog for concocting a tale about how Jenner was hoping her sister Kendall would have babies with Anwar Hadid. In actuality, Kendall isnât even in a relationship with Hadid, the brother of fellow models Bella and Gigi.
When Gossip Cop looks back at other outletsâ reports from a year ago, itâs not necessarily to give ourselves a pat on the back for being right. Itâs more to educate visitors about who to trust and what signals they should be looking for when reading articles. As we often note, time is not the friends of fabricators. The truth usually bears itself out. And if an outlet bases its entire story on an untraceable âsource,â and no other trustworthy websites have picked up the so-called âexclusive,â itâs generally because the claim is nothing more than fiction or speculation.
