Gwen Stefani is not âready to end her music career to settle downâ with Blake Shelton, despite a claim on Saturday. This report is both late and wrong. Gossip Cop can set the record straight for the second time.
On Wednesday, OK! published its new issue with a teaser on the cover that exclaimed, âGwen Tells All: Iâm Quitting Music For Blake!â It was a fake statement, as Stefani never actually said any such thing. Whatâs more, though, is that it was a bait-and-switch. As Gossip Cop explained in our bust, the actual article didnât really have anything to do with Shelton at all. Rather, it referenced an interview in which Stefani had said, âIâm obviously at the end of my journey being a musician.â
The magazine wrongly twisted that quote and sensationalized it into a narrative about Stefani âquitting music.â Of course, the outlet had no real proof to back up that contention, given that the singer never actually said that. In contrast, Gossip Cop checked in with her rep, who exclusively told us on the record that it was not true she intended to abandon her career for Shelton or any other reason.
Now days after our debunking, Celebrity Insider is peddling a post with the headline, âGwen Stefani Is Reportedly Ready To End Her Music Career To Settle Down With Blake Shelton.â Noting that the No Doubt front woman is about to start her Las Vegas residency, the site contends she âhinted that this could be the end of her musical journey,â and asks, âCould she be quitting music to settle down with Blake Shelton?â
âIn her latest interview, Stefani says that she would be ok if this is her last run on stage,â alleges the blog. Actually, she never said that. As the interview with Social, a lifestyle magazine, shows, she was asked, âWhat does performing live give you, personally and energetically?â Stefani responded in part, âI always think I donât want to do it. I always think itâs fine if I never do it again. Then when I get on stage, even when Iâm sound checking, Iâm like, âOh My God, I love this!’â At no point did say sheâd be âokayâ if this was her âlast run.â
Just as significant is that Shelton is only mentioned once in the in-depth chat, and it was not in the context of âsettling down.â Stefani was asked, âHas Blake had any creative input with this Las Vegas show?â And in response, she explained how sheâs âbouncing stuff off him all the time.â Just as OK! did, Celebrity Insider is completely misrepresenting the interview and turning it into something entirely different. In fact, the website actually goes on to admit, âStefani stopped short of saying she is quitting music to be with her boyfriend.â
If thatâs the case, then the online publication had no business announcing in a headline, âGwen Stefani Is Reportedly Ready To End Her Music Career To Settle Down With Blake Shelton.â Furthermore, it makes little sense to contend she would be ending her career to âsettle downâ with the country superstar when he isnât doing the same. Last December, Shelton re-upped with Warner Music Nashville, and said in a statement, âI look forward to more incredible years with my Warner family.â Besides, they can continue being a couple while carrying on with their respective music careers. Theyâve done it for more than two years already, and stars like Faith Hill and Tim McGraw have done it for two decades.
Lastly, not only is it apparent that the website didnât do proper research on Stefaniâs interview, but it also clearly couldnât be bothered to fact-check. Had Celebrity Insider done some investigating, it wouldâve seen that this narrative about Stefani âquitting musicâ had already been debunked. But given that this is the same site that flip-flopped in January on Stefani and Shelton breaking up, itâs apparent truth-telling isnât a priority.
