The footballing hero and wife Victoria were forced to deny their 19-year-marriage was over after lurid gossip was posted online on Friday.
Bookies including Paddy Power and Ladbrokes even suspended bets on the power couple splitting up.
As the rumours swept social media, trolls shared the name and picture of a woman.
Now, her furious dad has spoken out, branding the rumours “fake news” and saying his daughter has “never even met” David.
The Sun on Sunday quoted the father as saying: “This is ridiculous. We have no idea where it has come from.”
He revealed that his daughter, who “lives very happily with her boyfriend” has been forced to suspend her social media accounts after being bombarded with hundreds of friend requests.
He added that his daughter’s employers have drafted in lawyers over the false claims.
David and Victoria have been putting on a united front after dismissing the rumours.
Fashion designer Victoria, 44, uploaded several pictures on Instagram; one of her boys Cruz, 13, and Romeo, 15, saying “they love their haircuts” , then a smiling selfie in a car saying “good morning kisses”.
It follows pictures from Friday night that showed a family gathering, as the Spice Girl shared a happy snap of herself with Romeo, Cruz, Harper, and her mum and dad, Jackie and Tony Adams.
A spokeswoman for the couple said: “There is no statement due or divorce. This is just fake social media news.”
And a spokesman for ex-Manchester United and England hero David, 43, said the gossip was “a crock of s***”, adding: “It’s embarrassing and laughable.”
A friend said many of the rumours on Twitter were “ridiculous” and the result of “Chinese whispers”.
