Nine months ago, Gossip Cop busted a tabloid for wrongly reporting that Ben Affleck’s girlfriend Lindsay Shookus had a “baby bump.” If that were the case, the “Saturday Night Live” producer would have given birth by now. She hasn’t. Time has completely disproven the false pregnancy claims.
Back in September, RadarOnline insisted Shookus “looked curvier than usual” while walking around Los Angeles with her famous boyfriend. The unreliable blog further contended that the TV producer “sparked pregnancy rumors when she stepped out in a long black sundress flashing what looked like a growing baby bump.” However, the site was the only one that “sparked pregnancy rumors.” Naturally, there wasn’t a single shred of evidence to back up the theory.
Shortly after the article was published, Gossip Cop checked in with a mutual pal of ours and Shookus, who told us on the condition of anonymity that the producer wasn’t pregnant. Now that it’s June, it’s abundantly clear that our insider was correct. Shookus clearly didn’t have a “baby bump” back in September, nor does she appear to have one now.
Unfortunately, Gossip Cop has had to debunk additional false pregnancy rumors over the past nine months. Just a few weeks after we busted RadarOnline, the site’s sister outlet, the National Enquirer, also wrongly reported that Shookus had a “bun in the oven.” Those bogus reports came on the heels of similarly false articles about Affleck and Shookus getting engaged or married, neither of which have happened.
It’s worth noting, the actor and producer’s relationship appears to be going quite strong. Shookus recently helped Affleck move into his new house in Los Angeles, but she isn’t permanently moving in with the actor, as she’ll have to return to New York City in the fall to get back to work on “SNL.” The couple has reached a few relationship milestones in their time together, but engagement rings, a wedding and babies aren’t among them, despite the many tabloid stories claiming otherwise.
The passage of time is one of the biggest enemies of the tabloids, as it will often debunk old reports, especially false pregnancy rumors. On the other hand, time has proven to be one of Gossip Cop’s biggest allies, as it shows that our busts were 100 percent accurate. A perfect example is our debunking of RadarOnline’s September article speculating that Shookus had a “baby bump.”
