Don Balon suggest Messi is concerned by suggestions Neymar could make the switch to La Liga rivals Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.
Is is suggested the Argentine ace has been in contact with his former strike partner in an attempt to convince him to join United instead.
The report states United are currently monitoring the 25-year-old’s situation at Paris Saint-Germain and could be persuaded to make a move for the Brazilian at the end of the season.
According to the article Jose Mourinho’s side have the money to ‘strike a deal’ although the Reds are reportedly reluctant to recruit another high-profile attacking option.
Neymar continues to be linked with a move away from Paris at the end of the season, however, it is widely suggested the player would prefer a move to Real Madrid if given the choice.
In other transfer news, David de Gea continues to be linked with a move to Real Madrid.
Another report from Don Balon suggests the La Liga giants are still very interested in a summer move for the Spaniard.
It is suggested Florentino Perez has identified De Gea as his transfer priority ahead of the summer but he is reportedly concerned by United’s financial demands.
