Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis are not divorced, despite a report from a year ago that claimed they were splitting. Gossip Cop is taking a look back at this false tabloid cover story 365 days after we first busted it. Time has proven our debunking was correct.
On May 10 2017, Star published a cover story that wrongly exclaimed, “Mila & Ashton: Divorce Announcement.” In what was said to be a “Hollywood shocker,” the gossip magazine described the stars as being “miserable” in their marriage due to “battles over kids, money [and] other women.” A so-called “friend” maintained “tension” had been “building for a while” between them as a result of these alleged problems.
For instance, it was asserted Kunis had “trust issues” and felt “threatened” by Kutcher working with Elisha Cuthbert on his Netflix series, “The Ranch.” This supposed “source” further contended Kunis was feeling “overwhelmed” from raising their two kids while her husband slacked off and hung out with guys friends. It was also alleged that both she and Kutcher were struggling with their careers, which was just “another brick to pile” on to their fracturing dynamic. Claimed the outlet’s purported tipster, “I think the situation could be much worse than anyone knows.”
As it turned out, however, the publication’s fictionalized telling of the couple’s marriage was much worse than their reality. In fact, a rep for Kunis exclusively told Gossip Cop on the record that it was “absolutely not true” they planned to make a divorce announcement. Sure enough, a full 12 months have gone by, and no such announcement was ever made. Kunis and Kutcher never split, contrary to the claims.
And far from breaking up, the couple recently showed just how united they are. In an interview last month, Kunis exclaimed, “I have the world’s greatest husband.” She went on to gush, “I got very lucky… I got a man that has got a lot of patience and is incredibly supportive of our family.” Strikingly, her comments clearly contradict the contentions from the tabloid’s untraceable “friend.”
Gossip Cop must also point out that just two months after this magazine peddled its bogus breakup narrative, Kutcher slammed Star for falsely suggesting he was cheating with a mystery brunette. The actor tweeted, “You should have heard how upset Mila was that I spent the day with our cousin.” He further wrote, “Sorry Aunt Jodie, these magazines lack integrity.” Indeed, if the outlet had any integrity, it would’ve apologized both for its untrue divorce report and for wrongly linking Kutcher romantically to someone who was an innocent relative. But to this day, the shameful publication still has not issued corrections for either of its big flubs.
