Having just had a baby, Anne Hathaway was in need of some body positivity, and her co-stars on ‘Oceanâs 8’, Rihanna, Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett, were nice enough to give her the boost she needed.
Hathaway was on The Ellen Show today to chat about the upcoming spin-off from Steven Soderberghâs Oceans trilogy.
The film has a fabulous cast which aside from the aforementioned actresses includes Sarah Paulson, Mindy Kaling, Helena Bonham Carter, Dakota Fanning and Awkwafina.
Hathaway talked about how the all-female set was a âhuge love festâ, adding âThereâs this terrible rumour going around that women canât get along and, man, did we just murder that rumour. We just loved each other so much. It was so special.â
She also talked about it being her first movie after giving birth to her son.
She told Ellen: âOne of the lucky things about being in this business for so long is that Iâve really kind of come to terms with the pressure that you get to look a certain way as an actress and I donât beat myself up about any of that stuff anymore. But after I had my son, the weight was really slow to come off and so I was a different size than I normally am.
âThe director told me, âThatâs great, we have eight women in this movie. We need to have as many body types up there as we can,â which I was really relieved to hear.â
She talked about walking onto the set on the first day, dressed in jeans having done the best to make herself up. While Sandra Bullock told her, âLooking good, mama!â and Cate Blanchett said âNice jeans, Hathaway!â, the best compliment came from Rihanna.
â[She] looks up and goes, âDamn girl, you got a ass!â And I of course freaked out and loved it so much. I was like, âReally?!â And she goes, âYou got a ass like me!ââ
âOceanâs 8â is released in Irish cinemas on June 22nd.
