When Akshay Kumar announced Reema Kagtiâ€™s Gold as his next project, comparison with Shah Rukh Khanâ€™s Chak De! India was evident. While Akshay played a hockey coach in this real-life inspired story, fans were joining the dots to Shah Rukh Khanâ€™s successful adaptation of Kabir Khan. But are these two different movies really similar? It was only natural that Akshay will be bombarded with this question once he starts interacting with the media for Gold. Recently when the Housefull 4 actor was asked to comment on the similarities between Chak De! India and Gold, he said. â€śEverything will be a competition. For me, it is all about doing a good film. Chak Deâ€¦ was a different story, Gold is different. It is frivolous to even think like that or competing with that film. Donâ€™t compare it, it is all different.â€ť
Talking about his character of Tapan Das in the film, the actor said, â€śHe is a controversial guy. He is a drunk and a cheater. But within a year, he brought 11 people together, made a team and went for the Olympics, won the gold medal. In his another interaction, Akshay even clarified that he is not doing Mogul â€“ a biopic on Gulshan Kumar. While earlier the movie was announced with the actor, he later opted out of the project because he had certain script issues with the makers. Now Aamir Khan has teamed up with T-series to produce the film that will release in Christmas 2019. But will he even act in it?
