The tabloids frequently allege that Angelina Jolie is feuding with another celebrity. Gossip Cop has debunked several of these supposed show business fights as of late. Her are five recent wrong rumors about Jolie’s nonexistent feuds.
Last month, Gossip Cop busted OK! for falsely claiming that Jolie was feuding with Michelle Pfeiffer on the set of Maleficent 2. The magazine alleged that Jolie felt threatened by her co-star, so she started throwing her weight around on the set of the Disney sequel, making sure Pfeiffer knew she was boss. The story was based on claims from an anonymous and untraceable “source,” but Pfeiffer’s own rep told Gossip Cop on the record that the article was “not remotely true.” The idea that Jolie is difficult on set is also bogus. Co-stars Elle Fanning and Sharlto Copley had great things to say about working with the actress on the first movie. Also, Marie Claire previously published an article titled, “What Is It REALLY Like To Work With Angelina Jolie?” which featured photos of her bonding with cast and crew on the set of Unbroken.
Also last month, New Idea made up a story about Meghan Markle being caught in a feud between Jolie and Amal Clooney. The magazine said that the actress was jealous of the human rights lawyer scoring an invite to Markle’s wedding, and a battle was “brewing” between the women as a result. The article was based on the premise that Jolie was snubbed from the royal wedding, but that wasn’t the case. Back in May, some outlets assumed the actress was attending the ceremony because she was spotted landing in London two days prior. However, People and other trusted publications noted that Jolie arrive in London for work and not for the wedding. The actress never planned on attending the ceremony and wasn’t upset she wasn’t invited. Regardless, a rep for the actress also assured us she wasn’t in any sort of feud with Clooney.
Back in January, NW came up with an angle about Jolie “ending” her feud with Jennifer Aniston at the Golden Globe Awards. The made-up article said that Jolie tracked down the actress at an afterparty to “extend an olive branch” and get “closure.” The incident never occurred. The tabloid tried to sell its story by photoshopping an image of what appeared to be Jolie and Aniston posing together at the ceremony. The real picture, however, was of Aniston posing with Carol Burnett. It was simply doctored to make it look as if Brad Pitt’s exes had united.
Gossip Cop called out In Touch last November for wrongly reporting that Jolie had snubbed Margot Robbie at the Hollywood Film Awards. The magazine claimed that Robbie attempted to introduce herself to the fellow actress, but Jolie “turned her back” and walked away. The outlet theorized that Jolie slighted Robbie because Pitt supposedly had a crush on the actress when he cast her for a cameo in the 2015 movie The Big Short. Only, Gossip Cop checked in with the organizers of the awards show, none of whom had heard anything about the supposed incident. Also, the ceremony was covered by dozens of media outlets, and not a single one of them witnessed any tension. For example, Vanity Fair, observed both Robbie and Jolie behind the scenes and made no mention of any incident.
And finally, RadarOnline falsely claimed last September that Penelope Cruz was unhappy about Jolie co-starring with her husband Javier Bardem in an upcoming Bride of Frankenstein remake. The article contended that Cruz was worried about her husband’s “working relationship” with Jolie on the “set” of the film. The tabloid’s source was described as an “on-set mole.” The main issue with the magazine’s story? The movie hasn’t started shooting yet. One month after we busted the article, it was reported that Bride of Frankenstein was being postponed. It’s also worth noting, Jolie hasn’t officially signed on for the movie yet. Regardless, the entire scenario was provably untrue.
